Welcome to the Short Story section!
For those of you who love telling stories, or just talking!, these projects may prove to be your favorite as well as your strength. Throughout your writing process, I offer several helpful hints:
1. Start early. This gives you a chance to work methodically, walk away from your work, and come back with a fresh mind.
2. Start with the character in mind. That is, don't just start writing aimlessly. Try to have an overall message, lesson, or theme that your character is going to learn. Freewrite, free associate, brainstorm about it and see what you come up with.
3. You don't need to start writing stories at the beginning. Many times, you have a great ending or dialogue in mind, but just don't know to get to it yet. That's okay! Write it out! You'll get to it.
